PDXpert PLM software has been designed to support a wide variety of part numbering systems, including manually-assigned intelligent part numbers, category-based semi-significant part numbers, and easy-to-manage sequential part numbers.
At the click of an "auto-number" button, PDXpert PLM software can assign document and part numbers based on your defined item types, such as "Hardware", "Resistor" or "Assembly" using a flexible part numbering system that permits optional category prefix (e.g., "HW-"), sequentially-assigned base number, and a user-defined fixed suffix (such as "-001").
PDXpert also allows you to manually assign more complex "intelligent" or "significant" part numbers, and will save & track revisions to these records through its simple engineering change control process.
PDXpert software provides powerful parts list ("bill of materials" or "BOM") management capabilities:
- Easily find items using free-form, Google™-like text search
- Drag and drop complete parts onto the BOM in a single operation
- Navigate up and down the multi-level indented tree structure
- Identify and use only the most current data on BOMs
- Know what changes have been made to each BOM revision (Add / Remove / No Change)
- Enforce rules for each assembly type (a BOM part template) to ensure correct BOM evolution
- Create reports for assembly costs and RoHS/WEEE materials, and export multi-level BOMs
- Retain a full audit trail of all changes to the BOM, including when and why it was changed, who approved the changes, how affected items were dispositioned, and the total recurring and non-recurring cost
