Snapshot a document
Sometimes there's already a document similar to one that you need to create. It's simple to "take a snapshot" of the source document and then edit the snapshot to reflect your new requirements.
This copies the active document's data into a new record using the sameDocument Type collection member.
Locate the document that you want to copy using the Item Explorer.
Select the document and open it so that it is the active (front-most) document window in your item workspace.
If you don't want to copy the current iteration, select the preferred iteration.
- Select the Snapshot Duplicate command from the Edit menu or pressCtrl+D on your keyboard.
When the new document window opens, fill out the necessary information as outlined in Filling in the new document.

The source and target may have very different attributes, and only data that's supported in both source and target types is copied.
