Promote Affected Items Lifecycle Phase

The Markup Wizard lets you upgrade the lifecycle phase of affected items in the selected Change forms.

The lifecycle phase of selected affected items in Originated or Submitted Change forms are upgraded to a higher Relative Maturity lifecycle phase. For example, if one or more items in "Preliminary" lifecycle phase is being processed in an originated change form, a target lifecycle phase which has a higher Relative Maturity (such as "Production") is selected and applied to these affected items using the Markup Wizard.

PDXpert uses relative maturity to select the initial revision sequence or subsequent revision sequence to a part or document. See help topic:Document and part iterations.

The selected target lifecycle phase must have greater relative maturity than the currently selected one on the affected items ( Document or Part).

Use the Markup Wizard only with items that have been saved to the database. First make whatever items you'll need, such as a new parent items and/or child items and/or change form. Then close all items (Item ➔ Close All) before opening the Markup Wizard.

To use the Markup Wizard, you must have a Role that includes both Documents: Is an analyst and Parts: Is an analyst marked as True.

Clicking the Cancel button on any panel discards all of your planned changes and closes the Markup Wizard. No changes are made to the lifecycle phase of items in the Affected list of your change forms.

While the Markup Wizard can accept multiple change forms in the workflow, it is advised to update one change form at a time. Doing so will keep the transactions manageable and easier to review.

  1. Open the Tools menu and select Markup Wizard... When the Markup Wizard tool is shown, select Promote pending items Lifecycle Phase to and select the target lifecycle phase in the drop down control.

  2. Click the Next button.

  3. Using the Item Explorer, locate the change that you want to include. Drag this change from the Item Explorer results list and drop it onto the Promote these change items: area and click the Next button.

Only changes that are in Originated or Submitted state are allowed to be added.

  4. Preview the list of items that will be affected. If you wish, you can unselect a row and the lifecycle phase on the unselected item will remain unchanged. Click the Next button.

Only the items in the change's Affected Items lists that have a lower relative maturity from the target lifecycle phase will be presented in the list.

  5. Carefully review the final list of items to be affected. When you are done, click the Commit button. This changes the lifecycle phase of the selected items to the target lifecycle selected in the drop down in step 1.

You can cancel the transaction or go back at any time before the Commit buttom is clicked.

  6. After the data has been updated, the Markup Wizard tool will show whether your requested iterations were successful or encountered errors. Click the Close button after you've noted the results.
